With Choose My Extras, you choose 4 extras services from a selected range. To see the available services, head to the product summary or get a quote online. The amount you pay for your cover (your premium) isn’t affected by the services you select.

If you’d like to swap a service for another one, the policyholder can do so at any time, as long as no one on the policy has made a claim on that service in the calendar year. If you have made a claim on the service in the calendar year, and you'd like to swap it for another service, you can do so from 1 January in the next calendar year. If you swap in major dental, orthodontics, teeth whitening or podiatry, a 12-month waiting period will apply from the date of the swap before you can make a claim for major dental services, orthodontic services, teeth whitening services or minor podiatric procedures.

To change a service, chat to us online or give us a call on 13 13 34.

You can only claim for a service as long as the service is active on your policy at the time of receiving the service, making the claim and at the time HCF processes the claim.

With Choose My Extras, you get a percentage back benefit on any covered extras service. The amount you get back in benefits is 60%, up to your annual limit. For example: you attend a consultation with a physio and they charge you $80. You’ll get $48 back if you haven't reached your annual limit. Through our No-Gap network, you can also get 100% back^ on selected extras, up to your annual limit.

Yes, Choose My Extras is suitable for singles, couples and families.

If you’re new to health insurance, your previous health insurance didn’t cover a particular service, or you’re upgrading your cover, you’ll need to wait before you can claim. Waiting periods vary depending on the service you selected. For services with a 2-month waiting period, you'll serve the waiting period for those services 2 months after the start of your Choose My Extras policy, even if the service was not active on your policy.

For services with a 12-month waiting period, the 12-month waiting period starts from the day the service is selected and not the date your policy started. This applies to major dental, orthodontics, teeth whitening services and minor podiatric procedures. If you transfer from another fund, you generally don’t need to re-serve waiting periods you have already completed for services that you selected at the start of your Choose My Extras policy. If you swap in a service with a 12-month waiting period after your policy has started, you will need to re-serve the waiting period (except if the 30-day grace period applies).
