ONLINE MENTALHEALTH SERVICES

OFFERING ONLINE VIDEO SESSIONS WITH A MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL*

HCF knows mental wellbeing is just as important as physical wellbeing.

That’s why we've partnered with PSYCH2U, who deliver psychiatry and psychology services via video sessions. Together, we’re offering eligible members access to a range of professional mental health services* such as;

  • Online video sessions with a mental health professional
  • Access to digital prescriptions through PSYCH2U
  • Navigation, support and treatment for anxiety, depression and stress
  • Options to choose to have the same mental health professional throughout your journey.

By providing eligible members with these mental health services, we hope to fill the gaps within the Medicare system and provide a helping hand on your mental wellbeing journey.

IS A PROFESSIONAL MENTAL HEALTH VIDEO SESSION RIGHT FOR YOU?

During the last month, did you feel:

  • Nervous, anxious, restless or fidgety?
  • So depressed that nothing could cheer you up?
  • That everything was an effort?
  • Worthless?

If you answered yes to most of these questions, then please get in touch with HCF’s Health and Wellbeing via email by clicking here. The above information will be sent to our HCF’s Health and Wellbeing team. They will then contact you within 2 business days.

If you think the above list doesn’t relate to you, but you still want to check in with someone about your mental health, have a chat with your GP. You can also do this online with GP2U. Online GP consultations can’t be claimed from Medicare or HCF, but as an HCF member, you can save up to 20% on GP2U’s standard rates (which start at $50 for 15 minutes).

If you're struggling with depression and/or anxiety, and need to speak to someone now, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

VIDEO SESSIONS WITH A PROFESSIONAL: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How will I know if I’m eligible for a video session with a mental health professional? And when will I hear from them?

If you’ve held an HCF Gold Hospital level of cover for 12 months with HCF, you can apply to access PSYCH2U by emailing our Health and Wellbeing Team here. One of our team members will respond to you within two business days to let you know how to access the program.

Once your eligibility is confirmed, you’ll need to complete the Distress, Anxiety and Stress Survey (DASS-21). This is so PSYCH2U can understand what level of support will be best for you. You’ll hear from PSYCH2U within two business days, although you could hear from them within a few hours, depending on demand levels.

Are the online sessions confidential? Will my doctor get my results?

HCF won’t receive any personal information about what’s discussed during your PSYCH2U sessions – they are confidential. PSYCH2U is bound by its privacy policy, the same as if you were consulting face-to-face with a mental health professional. With your permission, PSYCH2U can share your information with your GP or specialist.

Will I have the same mental professional for all my sessions?

You can choose to have the same mental health professional throughout your mental health and wellbeing journey. Keep in mind if you have asked for a particular person, your wait times may be longer.

What mobile device or computer should I use for my video sessions?

You can use any device that is connected to the internet – so that could be your laptop, tablet device such as an iPad or mobile phone. The video service is then streamed through the PSYCH2U website.

Can I use this service if I’m not an HCF member?

We want to support our members in whatever way we can. If you already have the right level of cover and have served your relevant waiting periods at your current fund, you can switch to HCF and you won’t have to re-serve waiting periods before accessing PSYCH2U. Get in touch to find out more about your eligibility.

I have more questions about the program – who can I speak to?

You can email our Health and Wellbeing Team who are here to help by clicking here. One of our friendly experts will aim to get back to you within two business days.

If you're struggling with depression and/or anxiety, and need to speak to someone now, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
