We’ve answered some common questions to help you make the right choice.
There are some things in life we don’t want to think about, but it can pay to plan for the unexpected. When serious illness strikes, like a heart attack or cancer, it can impact more than just your health.
Critical Illness Insurance, also known as trauma insurance, provides financial support to help you deal with the financial impact of serious illness. It can help fill the gap not covered by traditional health insurance by paying you cash that can be used any way you choose to support you through the recovery process – whether you need it for extra treatments or therapies, taxis to and from the doctor or for help around the house.
Critical Illness Insurance covers you if you suffer a specified critical illness.
Depending on your level of cover, HCF Critical Illness Insurance can provide a benefit from $25,000 up to $200,000 in the event of you suffering a specified serious illness.
Critical Illness Insurance is available to permanent Australian residents aged 18 to 59, with cover expiring on the first policy anniversary after reaching age 65.
Refer to Compare Cover Levels table. For full terms and conditions, read the Critical Illness Insurance PDS.
Certain events aren’t covered by Critical Illness Insurance, which means claims aren’t payable for these events. Exclusions for Critical Illness Insurance include:
a critical illness directly or indirectly caused by intentional self-injury or attempted suicide
a critical illness directly or indirectly caused by acts of war, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil commotion, terrorism or insurrection
any special conditions that are applied as a result of your health and lifestyle assessment. When applicable, these conditions will be detailed in your policy schedule.
Refer to Compare Cover Levels table. For full terms and conditions, read the Critical Illness Insurance PDS.
Your Critical Illness Insurance premium changes each year on your policy anniversary date. It’ll generally increase over time, with increases typically getting larger as you get older.
Your premium is based on factors like:
age
gender
smoking status
insured benefit amount and automatic indexation increases applied to the benefit amount
health and lifestyle factors as assessed at the time of application.
For full terms and conditions, read the Critical Illness Insurance PDS.
