Ourpartnerships

One of the many ways we support Australians’ health is by giving back.

As a not-for-profit health fund and one of this nation's original for-purpose organisations, each year, we dedicate significant time and funds to partners who share our vision of creating a healthier future for all Australians.

ROYAL FLYING DOCTOR SERVICE

We recognise the crucial role we play in helping to make a positive health impact for our members, people and communities.

To help deliver on our social mission to build healthier communities, we’ve established a major national partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) to improve healthcare access and outcomes for families and communities living in rural and remote Australia.

NETBALL AUSTRALIA

Our national partnership with Netball Australia supports our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians, particularly young females, by empowering them to stay active in sport and lead healthier lives.

This partnership is not just about supporting Australia’s favourite sport for women and girls, it’s about working with players and communities to drive awareness of and support the health issues that are specifically important to women.

The HCF and Netball Australia partnership supports over one million players across the country – from grassroots to elite levels. Building on our initial partnership with GIANTS Netball, we are now also a major partner of the Suncorp Super Netball league and Suncorp Super Netball teams: West Coast Fever, Adelaide Thunderbirds, Queensland Firebirds and Sunshine Coast Lightning.

We know netball is more than just the players on court! So, we’ve expanded our support to celebrate the passionate teams behind these teams who go above and beyond each week for the netball community. Throughout the season, we’ve been celebrating the coaches, managers, administrators, umpires, canteen crews and volunteers who demonstrate uncommon care. Netball wouldn’t be the sport it is today too without parents and family members – the orange cutters, drivers, hair stylists and backyard-drill partners – who support our netballers every week.

Just like the netball community consistently goes above and beyond for this sport, HCF –  Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund – puts members’ health before anything else. HCF and Netball Australia, united by uncommon care.

Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute

The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute is dedicated to fighting cardiovascular disease through research. Like us, it's not-for-profit.

In 2012, we partnered with the Institute to deliver free heart health checks at HCF branches across Australia.

Any member with extras cover can drop in to receive a simple blood pressure, total cholesterol and blood sugar test from a registered nurse, and get the results on-the-spot.

International Consortium for Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM)

ICHOM is a not-for-profit organisation that works with healthcare systems around the world to measure and report on the effectiveness of medical treatment from a patient perspective.

The HCF Research Foundation, which shares this focus on improving health outcomes, has formed a strategic partnership with ICHOM. We’re working together to fund research and develop measurement tools to assess patient experiences in three areas: pregnancy and childbirth, oral health, and hip and knee osteoarthritis.

Understanding how well treatments improve previous patients’ symptoms, and their overall quality of life, can help others considering the treatment to better understand how it may work for them. The benefits for hospitals and doctors include identifying best practice and areas for improvement. The wider goal is creating a more efficient and effective health system for all Australians.
