NEED MORE INFORMATION ABOUT CASH BACK COVER?

Answers to commonly asked questions to help you make the right choice.

While our healthcare system has most accidents covered, sometimes the costs don’t stop when you leave hospital. That’s where Cash Back Cover comes in.

Cash Back Cover gives you cash to use any way you need, like extra rehab, taxis to the doctor, babysitters or to help if you need time off work. Think of it as an extra layer of financial protection – helping fill the gaps not covered by health insurance, particularly if you need financial help after surgery.

Cash Back Cover is available to permanent Australian residents aged 16 to 60 with the policy expiring at 65. You can protect everyone on your HCF health cover with the Cash Back Family Cover option.

Cash Back Cover pays $5,000 for accidents requiring surgery, or for specified serious illnesses including certain cancers, heart attack and stroke*. You can claim multiple times on your Cash Back Cover policy, up to a total of $20,000 for singles and $40,000 for family policies*.

Your Cash Back Cover premium is based on the level of cover you choose (Single or Family). It doesn’t increase with age. For a family quote, call 1800 560 855 to speak with an HCF specialist.

From time to time, we may change the Cash Back Cover premium for all policyholders to allow us to cover rising claims costs and better support our members’ needs. You’ll be notified at least 30 days in advance if your premium is going to change.

For full terms and conditions, read the Cash Back Cover PDS.

We’ll pay you a benefit if you experience the following (provided you have met the waiting periods and any other policy terms and conditions):

  • accident requiring surgery
  • cancer of specified severity
  • kidney failure
  • coronary artery bypass graft surgery
  • heart attack of specified severity
  • stroke
  • major organ transplant.

For full terms and conditions, read the Cash Back Cover PDS.

We won’t pay you a benefit in certain situations, for example, if your illness or injury:

  • is not one of the specified serious illnesses or does not meet the severity definition
  • is a specified serious illness which occurs within the 12-month waiting period (see below)
  • is covered by workers’ compensation
  • occurred while you were overseas
  • occurs as a result of racing, professional sport, military service or aviation (other than as a fare-paying passenger)
  • is a result of an accident that does not require surgery in an operating theatre within 6 months of the accident
  • is a result of an illegal act, intentional self-injury or drug and alcohol abuse.

For full terms and conditions, read the Cash Back Cover PDS.
