Get help with weight management
Looking after your weight is an important part of overall health and wellbeing, and HCF connects you with proven, scientifically-backed programs and resources.
Advice from a clinician
If you have eligible extras cover, you may be able to claim for a dietitian-led HCF-approved weight management program* – you’ll just need to submit a claim form and provide supporting documents. We also offer eligible members with heart conditions or diabetes free access to The COACH Program®^ – a four- to six-month phone coaching support program.
CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet
Created by Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet combines a high-protein, low-GI eating plan with proven weight management tools to help improve habits and create lifelong positive behaviours. Eligible HCF members can enjoy free access or a 20% discount+.
Exercise classes and gym memberships
If your doctor or allied health professional has recommended an exercise or gym program to treat a specific medical condition (like arthritis, hypertension, obesity, asthma, diabetes or osteoporosis), you may be able to claim towards the cost with HCF.
Look after your joints
Strong, healthy joints make it easier to stay active and maintain your independence. HCF offers a range of evidence-based joint health programs to help you reduce pain and improve mobility.
HCF No-Gap GLA:D® Knees Program
The GLA:D® (Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark) Program for Osteoarthritis is an evidence-based early intervention treatment program for knee osteoarthritis. Eligible members# can access the GLA:D® Program for Osteoarthritis through HCF’s No-Gap GLA:D Knees Program with no gap to pay. The exercise program has been designed to help knee osteoarthritis symptoms by reducing pain, improving strength and mobility and helping to avoid or delay the need for knee replacement surgery**.
Osteoarthritis Healthy Weight for Life
HCF members living with osteoarthritis of the hip or knee joints could be eligible for the Osteoarthritis Healthy Weight for Life program^^, which is designed to help reduce joint pain, improve mobility or prepare you for hip or knee surgery.
Learn how to get better sleep
Along with diet and exercise, sleep is the third pillar of health and wellbeing, helping the body to rest, repair and regulate physical and mental wellbeing. HCF offers tools and guidance to help you rest better.
Sleepfit app
Two in three adults report at least one sleep problem. If you’re one of them, the Sleepfit app can help you identify sleep issues, recommend improvements and provide personalised tools to help you get good-quality sleep that supports your wellbeing. Eligible members++ can enjoy a free 12-month subscription.
Find alcohol support services
Managing your alcohol consumption is an important part of a balanced lifestyle, and quitting comes with many health benefits.
Daybreak app
If you find you’re drinking more to get through tough times, Daybreak – an app developed by innovative not-for-profit Hello Sunday Morning – can help you take the first step to changing your relationship with alcohol for the better. It gives you anonymous access to a supportive environment and community to set alcohol-related behaviour change goals, plus you can use the app's Drink Tracker to monitor your drinking habits. HCF members may also have access to additional mental health support##.
Prioritise your mental health and wellbeing
Everyone's mental health journey is different and finding where to go for support for yourself and your family can be challenging. HCF provides practical tools and professional guidance to help you manage stress, anxiety and emotional wellbeing.
HealthyMinds Check-in
We’re committed to providing members with fast, easy access to mental wellbeing support. Eligible members can get a free annual HealthyMinds Check-in*** – a 20- or 50-minute one-on-one chat from the comfort and privacy of your home with a psychologist. The HealthyMinds Check-in also includes access to specially trained psychologists for young people aged 12 to 17.
THIS WAY UP
THIS WAY UP connects members to more than 18 evidence-based, online CBT treatment programs designed to help you understand and improve mental health challenges like stress, insomnia, anxiety, depression and chronic pain. Members with eligible extras cover*** can claim benefits to cover the cost of eligible programs (up to your annual limits).
