HCF ‘Refer-a-friend’ December 2016 promotion

Terms & Conditions

1) Instructions on how to participate in this Program (defined below) and its rewards form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in the Program is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Offer cannot be used valid in conjunction with any other offer.

2) The Program is conducted by HCF – The Hospitals Contribution Fund of Australia Ltd (A.B.N 68 000 026 746) of HCF House, 403 George Street, Sydney, NSW 2000 (“HCF”). 

3) The ‘HCF Refer-a-friend’ program (“Program”) is only available to Australian residents who are existing HCF members with a ‘current’ membership i.e. not in suspension or in arrears or lapsed membership and whom received an email from HCF regarding the promotion. Excluded from entering this Program are:

a. Those joining on any other offer, (excluding the waiting period waiver offer);

b. Those with Overseas Visitors Health Cover, Ambulance Cover, Life, Compulsory Third Party, Travel and Pet Insurance where these are not combined with a HCF hospital and extras cover. HCF staff members are not permitted to participate in this promotion.

4) The Program commences at 09:00am AEDST on 9 December 2016 and ends 11:59pm AEDST on 31 January 2017 (“Program Period”). 

5) Eligible HCF members can during the Program Period share their email with their friends which includes their membership number.

6) In order for the referred and referring HCF member to qualify for the Program reward, the referred member must during the Program Period:

a. Take out and commence a new hospital and extras policy (Hospital cover only, Extras cover only, Ambulance cover and Life cover, Travel, Compulsory Third Party Insurance do not qualify) over the phone or via a HCF branch. 

b. Quote the HCF membership number of the referring HCF member.

c. The referred member must take out and commence health cover with HCF during the promotion period and subsequently complete 2 full months of paid membership and the referring member’s policy must not be in arrears, in order for both the referred and referring HCF member to receive their choice of a $100: 

- Rebel online gift card OR 

- Eftpos online gift card OR 

- David Jones online gift card OR

- Woolworths online gift card 

Redemption of the $100 gift card is subject to any terms and conditions of the card issuer, including those specified on the Digital Glue HCF Rewards platform at rewards.hcf.com. 

d. To be eligible for this Program, both the referred and referring HCF member must provide a valid email address to HCF which will remain on file. 

7) Subject to clause 5) and 6), the eligible referring HCF member and eligible referred member will both receive the reward of a $100 online gift card.

8) The $100 online gift card will be sent via email only to the referring and referred HCF member approximately two to four weeks after the referred member completes their second full month of membership from commencement date. 

9) Gift cards are not transferable, exchangeable and cannot be redeemed as cash. Gift cards are subject to any terms and conditions specified by the issuer including any specified on the card itself. Any unused portion of any gift card will not be redeemable for cash. Any ancillary costs associated with the redemption of any gift card are the responsibility of the member. 

10) The Program is not available to existing HCF members on the same membership that want to split their membership to take advantage of the gift card offer, including dependants currently on their parents’ HCF membership who subsequently wish to take out their own HCF membership.  

11) For the avoidance of any doubt, there is no limit to the number of new eligible referred members that an existing HCF referring member can introduce over the course of the Promotion Period. 

12) No third party services, can be used to promote the Program.     

13) HCF reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of members and memberships (including a member’s identity, age and place of residence) and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who HCF has reason to believe has breached any of these Terms and Conditions, tampered with the Program or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of the Program. Errors and omissions may be accepted at HCF’s discretion. Failure by HCF to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. HCF’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.

14) If this Program is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of HCF, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, HCF reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any individual; or (b) to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Program, as appropriate.

15) Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, HCF (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Program.

16) The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this Program is governed by HCF’s Privacy Policy available at http://www.hcf.com.au/privacy-policy/. HCF collects personal information in order to conduct the Program and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Participation in this Program is conditional on providing this information. Members should direct any request to access, update or correct information to HCF and direct any complaints regarding treatment of their personal information according to the Privacy Policy. The personal information provided will not be disclosed to any overseas entity.

17) HCF’s decision on any matters relating to these terms and conditions is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
