Your surgery

You’ll be taken to the procedure room and made comfortable.

Your surgeon will do either open or laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

Your age and health, the size of your hernia, its location, your surgeon’s preferences and skills and whether your hernia's unilateral or bilateral, will determine the surgeon’s approach.

After surgery, the wound will be closed with stitches, Steri-Strips®, or staples.
