We want to meet members wherever they’re at in their health journey. That’s why we offer a range of joint health programs to help members reduce and manage pain, strengthen and improve mobility and prevent, delay or prepare for surgery.
Delivered in collaboration with our trusted health partners, our evidence-based programs help eligible members improve their health and get back to doing more of the things they enjoy.
HCF KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS PROGRAM
Knee pain and stiffness can be common, especially as we age. If you’re over 45, these symptoms could be due to osteoarthritis. Common symptoms of knee osteoarthritis include:
- knee pain and/or difficulty walking up stairs
- a clicking or crunching type noise when the knee moves
- knee pain and/or stiffness after standing or sitting for long periods
- knee pain and/or stiffness that reduces your ability to participate in work, sport or hobbies.
Thankfully, the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis can be managed through a combination of lifestyle changes and targeted exercises, which can reduce the need for surgery. That’s why we’re offering the HCF Knee Osteoarthritis Program.
Delivered online or over the phone by HCF health coaches, the program aims to help eligible members* improve their knee osteoarthritis symptoms and quality of life.
From the comfort of home, the program provides:
- a dedicated online HCF health coach
- personalised nutritional and lifestyle guidance
- exercises to strengthen muscles and improve mobility
- a list of recommended health programs for further support.

BETTER HEALTH TO HELP MANAGE PAIN
Carrying extra weight can take its toll at any stage and age. That’s why we've partnered with Prima Health Solutions to give eligible members^ free access to the Osteoarthritis Healthy Weight for Life program to help reduce pain and improve movement in their hips and knees.
The program aims to support HCF members who want to reduce osteoarthritis symptoms, strengthen and improve mobility and prevent or prepare for hip or knee surgery. From the comfort of your own home, you’ll get access to:
- a dedicated team of health experts
- nutritional and lifestyle support to help with weight management
- strength and mobility progress tracking
- digital week-by-week guides
- strengthening exercise videos and education.
NO-GAP JOINTS PROGRAM THAT PUTS YOU IN CONTROL
We believe in taking a holistic approach to your health and wellbeing. So, when it comes to having primary hip or knee replacement surgery, we want to give eligible members greater flexibility to make their experience simple and supported.
Our No-Gap Joints program for primary hip and knee replacements gives eligible members peace of mind, with no out-of-pocket costs from hospital admission through to discharge and post-surgery rehab+. We've partnered with private hospitals and clinicians in NSW and Vic to give greater flexibility and continuity of care while keeping costs down.

^ Eligible members must have held HCF hospital cover for 12 months and hospital cover for joint replacement surgery for a minimum of 2 months, have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 28 and higher, knee or hip osteoarthritis and are considering joint replacement surgery.
+ Eligible members will need to have HCF hospital cover including primary hip and knee replacements for 12 months (excluding Overseas Visitors Health Cover). Members must meet clinical criteria and be accepted into the program by a participating clinician and hospital. Program is only available at participating hospitals for a limited time.
