Preparing foryour surgery

Before surgery, your doctor may order some tests and do some examinations.

They may also ask you to take a medication called misoprostol before the procedure. This can help to soften your cervix, making the procedure easier. It comes in a tablet form that can be taken either orally or vaginally. Cervagem (Gemeprost) is another cervix softening agent that is given as a pessary.
