After your procedure you’ll be taken to the recovery room.
To prevent bleeding from the vein that was used for the procedure, the nurses will ask you to stay lying down and avoid moving your leg. You’ll need to keep the leg still for 4–6 hours. Because the puncture site is only small, you won’t need any stitches.
The nurses will monitor your heartbeat and blood pressure.
Your cardiologist will come and see you and let you know how the procedure went.
They may not let you eat for at least 4 hours after general anaesthesia, but this can vary. If you had sedation, you can eat and drink sooner.
Discomfort following the procedure
You shouldn’t experience much pain or discomfort after your heart rhythm study.
