Preparing for your procedure

Preparing for a tooth extraction

In cases of abscess and infection, you may be given a course of antibiotics before your extraction.

You’ll normally need to fast for at least 6 hours beforehand, but your dentist/doctor will have their own specific preparation requirements. These instructions should be followed strictly.

What to take with you on the day

You can take any medication prescribed for the daytime as you’ll most likely be able to have it but leave valuables and jewellery at home (a plain band on your finger may be okay).
