Since the outset of the pandemic, we’ve seen the growing importance of quick and early access to appropriate mental wellbeing support when and where you need it.

That's why we’ve temporarily expanded our mental health offering to include a free HealthyMinds Check-in for eligible members*, until 30 June 2023.

This gives you faster, easier access to qualified mental health professionals and digital support services to help you take control of your mental wellbeing.

As Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund, our members are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we're trying to make it as easy and fast as possible for you to access the mental wellbeing support you need.

Our partnership with PSYCH2U is unique to HCF, meaning no other health fund offers the HealthyMinds program to members. Eligible HCF members^ can access the HealthyMinds program which includes a range of mental health services like:

  • navigation and support to access treatment for anxiety, depression and stress
  • online video or phone contact with a psychologist, with navigation to psychiatry and other allied health services as needed
  • access to digital prescriptions through PSYCH2U
  • consistency of care with the same mental health professional throughout your journey.

A GP AT YOUR FINGERTIPS 

As part of the changes introduced because of COVID-19 all HCF members may access online GP consultations through GP2U for free+ for a limited time. See hcf.com.au/gp2u for offer end date.

You may call  our partner GP2U on 1300 472 866 or register to book an appointment here. If you’re worried about your mental wellbeing a GP is a great place to start.

You may also be able to access bulk-billed online GP services with your current provider.

GP2U and PSYCH2U services have a unique partnership with HCF, no other private health fund offers these resources to members.

HELPING YOUR KIDS WITH THEIR BIG FEELINGS  

Our mental health and wellbeing program includes free access for HCF members with hospital or extras cover to Calm Kid Central#, an online educational and support program to help kids aged 4–11 learn to act bravely and confidently, behave in positive ways, develop good friendships and manage tough life situations.

Parents and carers get:

  • fast and confidential access to a team of experienced child psychologists, who’ll answer your unlimited questions within 48 hours

  • videos and articles to help you know what to say and do to support your child emotionally.

For children, the program has courses, video lessons, activities, posters and animations to help them understand and better manage their feelings. There are also resources for children who are worried or unsettled by COVID-19.

FREE ONLINE TREATMENT PROGRAMS

You can access a range of evidence-based online treatment programs through This Way Up**, a not-for-profit initiative developed by experienced psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, to help you take control of your mental wellbeing today. Clinically proven to help, the programs help you understand and improve mental challenges like stress, insomnia, worry, anxiety and depression.

The programs are available free of charge when prescribed by a clinician. Your provider will register with This Way Up and refer you to an appropriate online program under their supervision.

Alternatively, you can access the programs without a supervising clinician for $59 per program.

There are also a wide range of practical resources and coping tools for consumers and clinicians available at no cost.

YOUR 24/7 SELF-CARE EXPERT

Woebot** is an automated mental health chatbot – a robot designed to help you learn about yourself, improve your mood and awareness and manage your state of mind. Designed by psychologists from Stanford University, Woebot delivers evidenced-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles in a relaxed conversational way and sends you videos and other useful tools depending on how you’re doing.

Change your relationship with alcohol

Hello Sunday Morning has a mission to change the world’s relationship with alcohol. Its flagship program, Daybreak, is a free digital service that Aussies can access through an app or the web. It gives you an anonymous and supportive environment to set alcohol behaviour-change goals and connects you with an online community. No matter how busy you are or where you live, Daybreak is accessible at any time on a smartphone with no waiting lists, so you can get the support you need, when you need it**.
