Going toHospital

You’ll be admitted to hospital on the day of your surgery

You’ll have to fast before your procedure – your specialist will explain what you need to do. You’ll fill out a consent form if you haven’t done this already.

Some patients having the keyhole operation choose to go home the same day. This is usually a joint decision that you and your doctor will make beforehand.

If you have an open operation you’ll probably stay 2 or 3 nights.

Waiting to go into the operating theatre

Be prepared to wait to go into theatre, while your surgeon works through their procedure list.
