Healthy Bones Action Week

1 August 2016: Look after your bones now to live the life you want. That’s the key message of this year’s Healthy Bones Action Week (1-7 August).

Despite looking and feeling great, many women over 50 don’t consume enough calcium-rich dairy foods to keep their bones strong, particularly as they approach and go through menopause.

It’s estimated the average woman loses up to 10 per cent of her bone mass in the first five years after menopause, causing bones to become thinner, more fragile and more likely to fracture easily.

Healthy Bones Action Week is an ideal time to remember that osteoporosis is preventable by taking some simple steps to protect your bones and overall health.
