TAX TIME SORTED

Making Tax Time Less Taxing

Here’s the information you need to fill in the private health insurance section on your tax return with confidence.  We’ll send your Tax Statement to you by 15 July 2019.

GETTING YOUR TAX STATEMENT

If you lodge your tax return online with the Australian Taxation Office’s myTax service or through a registered tax agent, the good news is your health insurance details should be auto-populated.

Whether you choose paper or digital, your 2018-19 Private Health Insurance Tax Statement will be sent to you by 15 July 2019.

You can also download it by:

MAKING SENSE OF YOUR TAX STATEMENT

To make tax time simpler, it’s now even easier to read and use your Tax Statement.

The important points to look for are:

  • the premiums you paid in the 2018-19 financial year
  • your part of any government rebate on your premium
  • the adults covered by the policy
  • the number of days you had the right private hospital cover (if less than 365 you may need to pay the Medicare Levy Surcharge).

Check out our guide to reading and using your Tax Statement.

CHANGES TO TAX TIME 2019-20

You’ll notice less paper when tax time 2019-20 comes around. That’s because the law about how we send out Tax Statements has changed and we’ll only mail a paper copy if you ask us to. We must still get this information to you but we’ll only post it if that’s the way you want it.

If you’re completing your tax return online using myTax, or if you use a registered tax agent, your Private Health Insurance Tax Statement details should be auto-populated.

But if your details aren't populated, you lodge a paper tax return, or just want your Tax Statement for your records, let us know and we’ll send this information out to you.

You can update your preferences by logging in to online member services to manage how you hear from us or use the My Membership app to access your records wherever you are.
