Minimal Benefits

For these services, HCF will only pay a small amount towards your private hospital costs. This means you may face significant out of pocket expenses if you have these procedures in a private hospital, but would be largely covered in a public hospital. For these procedures, HCF would:

  • pay a small amount towards your accommodation in a private hospital;
  • pay for shared accommodation in a public hospital;
  • pay for any Government approved no-gap prostheses (if required); and
  • not pay operating theatre expenses, or labour ward charges.
  • In addition, there are some services where doctor’s charges are not payable (e.g. elective cosmetic surgery and surgery by an accredited podiatrist). For these, HCF will only pay a very small amount towards the total cost of the procedure (and no doctor’s charges).
